The NTEN’s annual Nonprofit Technology Conference (NTC) in Washington D.C. is next week. (I know, hard to believe that it’s March already especially with the freezing temperatures here in North East!) This year sessions are divided into seven buckets. Most of us attending the conference are working for or with a non-profit organization, and our roles and responsibilities usually span at least 3 if not more of these buckets. So we need a strategy when putting together their personal agenda for the NTC.

I attended day two of my first Personal Democracy Forum (PDF) last week and found myself surrounded by a combination of politicos and digirati. The theme was “think bigger,” and the concept was leveraging technology and, wait for it…”big data” to tackle the world’s biggest problems. Ironically, in many of the sessions I ended up listening to, the ongoing issue of diversity in tech or lack thereof (and at tech conferences) still seems like a problem that requires a human solution. At the Ad Council, we are starting to utilize mobile and tablet advertising for some of our nonprofit causes. That’s why I was excited to attend Mobile Media Upfront last Monday and learn all about the mobile platform and what it could mean for social good. The buzzword “responsive” has been floating around the web design world for the past year or so, especially in mobile contexts. It refers to a website that has a very fluid template, which “responds” to the size of the user’s browser by rearranging and resizing the elements to logically fit on the page within a device.
